The IMPETUS Project aims to unlock the renewable energy potential of the South Baltic Area (SBA) by advancing Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) technology — a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable alternative to traditional wind systems.
🎯 Our Objectives
We aim to:
- Improve the aerodynamic performance of wind turbines,
- Reduce maintenance costs and noise levels,
- Minimize the environmental impact on wildlife,
- Build an open-access innovation ecosystem to support SMEs and young innovators.
🛠️ What We Do
Our activities include:
- A cross-border student competition for designing and building scaled VAWT prototypes,
- Establishing FabLabs to ensure equal access to tools, mentoring, and facilities,
- Hosting webinars and workshops across the region,
- Creating an Open Access Repository with designs, models, and lessons learned,
- Testing prototypes in wind tunnels and research clusters.
