About the Project
IMPETUS aims to boost green and blue growth in the South Baltic region by fostering innovation in renewable energy. The project focuses on developing Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) technology as a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable alternative to conventional wind systems.
Key Objectives
🎯 To enhance wind energy efficiency and public acceptance in the region by:
- improving the aerodynamic performance of turbines,
- reducing maintenance costs and noise levels,
- minimizing environmental impact on wildlife,
- building an open-access knowledge ecosystem and supporting SME innovation.
What We Do
- organize a cross-border student competition to design and build VAWT prototypes,
- establish FabLabs providing equal access to tools, facilities, and mentoring,
- run webinars and workshops for participating teams,
- build an Open Access Repository with designs, models, and research results,
- test prototypes in wind tunnels and cluster environments to validate findings.
Why It Matters
🌱 IMPETUS supports the green energy transition in the South Baltic region, strengthens cross-border cooperation, and creates new opportunities for young engineers. By building a knowledge-sharing ecosystem, it accelerates the adoption of clean wind energy technologies and promotes regional innovation.
